Dianne Jacob is a writing coach, author, and teacher. Previously a journalist and top editor for newspapers and magazines, she specializes in food writing.
Dianne publishes an indispensable free monthly newsletter on Substack, aimed at food writers.
Her clients are writers from around the world who want to publish books, articles, newsletters and blogs. She has also edited cookbooks for publishers, including Time Inc., Andrews-McMeel and Weldon Owen.
Her book, Will Write for Food, has won four awards for excellence: Best Literary Food Reference Book from the Cordon D’OrInternational, The Gourmand World Cookbook Award for best book in the USA in its category, and two Silver Nautilus awards. College and university professors use Will Write for Food as a textbook across the US, including at Harvard. The book is currently in its 4th edition.
Dianne is the co-author of two cookbooks with chef Craig Priebe. The New York Times, The BostonGlobe, and NPR recommended The United States of Pizza (Rizzoli, 2015) as one of the best cookbooks of the year. They also co-wrote an earlier book, Grilled Pizzas & Piadinas, published in 2008.

As a freelance writer, she has written feature articles for a variety of publications, including The Washington Post, Food & Wine, and Salon. Her essay in Lucky Peach, The Meaning of Mangoes, was the grand prize winner of the M.F.K. Fisher Award for Excellence in Culinary Writing. It also won Best Essay from the Association of Food Journalists annual awards, and is included in the anthology Best Food Writing 2016.
